Kate Hudson has a talent as an actor. She is best known for her character Penny Lane from the Hollywood film Almost Famous. Her nomination for the Academy Award was her most well-known performance. She was born into a family of movie stars and seemed to have a natural flair to be in the spotlight. Her mother, Goldie Hawn, is a well-known film actor while her father, Bill Hudson, is a comedian. She was a performer since she was a child and would jump at any opportunity to dance or sing on the stage. She was taught how to dance by her parents and also was a ballet student at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a child. In 1996, she received the opportunity to play a character on the TV drama Party of Five. While she was accepted into New York University by Kate Hudson, her goal was to pursue a career in show business but not get an academic degree. After performing in a few minor films, she was offered the part that would prove to be her biggest breakthrough in the field. She was selected to play Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. In spite of being a box-office failure it received positive critiques from critics, and it made a name for Kate as an actor within the American film industry.
