He currently is a member of the Combate Americas promotion. 2 Ortiz is best known for his time with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where as a former Light Heavyweight Champion and holding the title from April 14th 2001 until September 26 2003, he served as the Light Heavyweight Champion. Along with fighters like Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell and others, he was one the first stars of the sport. Ortiz became the biggest pay per view star in 2006 due to his fights against Forrest Griffin, Ken Shamrock and Liddell.
