Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is a writer TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. She emigrated from Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and received an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. After graduation she made her name as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice portal which gave critical opinions regarding the state of affairs. Her celebrity status helped her in getting several high-profile contributors to share their opinions about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna rose to fame when she made the decision to contest as an independent candidate in the California recall election in order to succeed then Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of the Detroit project to promote fuel efficient cars. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as The most influential women in media gaining 12th position in the listing and the following year, the Guardian included her in the top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she was made the president of this group. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties of that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the son of Konstantinos who was a journalist and management consultant. Her life was shaped by her closeness to her mother and her bond with her dad, despite being extremely close to the latter. In her early years, she displayed her leadership skills for which she's still known. At the age of sixteen, she left the United States to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined the Cambridge Union, a college debating club. The third female president, and also the first foreigner she served as the head of Cambridge Union. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master's in Economics. Following after graduation she became a journalist and TV host. She also appeared in the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from him.
