Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with volunteering in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. Second football he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. He was awarded two championships as well as 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. He received a third scholarship in 1975 and selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. He also began his career in the field of business. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him one of the nation's 10 outstanding young males. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He coached his university team in the year 1975. In 1993, he joined at the University of South Florida's athletic department as the associate director. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
